| Summary, etc. | Anfang 2006 verkündete ETA einen Waffenstillstand. Grundlegende, bereits aus der Entstehungszeit des baskischen Nationalismus überlieferte ideologische Streitigkeiten sind damit allerdings nicht gelöst. Das Ringen des frühen baskischen Nationalismus um eine religiöse und politische Identität, obwohl essentiell für das Verständnis auch des heutigen Konflikts, hat in den Geschichtswissenschaften kaum Beachtung ge- funden. Als Ideologe der baskisch-nationalistischen Bewegung schuf Angel Zabala eine religiös-politische Weltanschauung, die die neue Bewegung vor internen Streitigkeiten zu bewahren und von bestehenden politischen Optionen in Spanien abzugrenzen versuchte, was ihm ein Verfahren vor der römischen Indexkongregation eintrug. Quellen aus verschiedenen vatikanischen Archiven geben Einblick in die Wechselwirkungen zwischen dem religiös-politischen Tagesgeschehen zur Zeit Zabalas und der Ausbildung seiner Ideologie wie in die Netzwerke des politischen Katholizismus in Spanien zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts. |
