Welche Gedanken, welches Wissen hat es in seiner Technik, seiner Technologie verkörpert? Wie lassen sich Apparate, Maschinen, Medien, wie läßt sich stummes Gerät als inkorporiertes Wissen analysieren? So lauten die Fragen einer Historischen Techno-Logie, die Maschinen und Medien auf derselben Realitätsebene situiert wie den Diskurs. Im neuen Buch Bernhard Dotzlers geht es nun besonders um jenen Diskursausschnitt, den man im emphatisch-engeren Sinne des Wortes als Literatur bezeichnet, und der auf seine Weise mit besonderer Hartnäckigkeit vor die Grundfrage aller Medienwissenschaft stellt: die Frage nach der Ablösung schriftlicher durch nichtschriftlich-technische Kommunikation. Es ist die Limitation der Literatur, die so zum Argument gerät, durch das sie die Realität ihrer selbst wie die der epochalen Zäsur reflektiert, die das Allgemeinwerden elektronischer Schaltungstechnik bedeutet. |
