520 _aAdvanced Metamaterials is an Open Access international journal which publishes peer-reviewed leading edge original articles that both report on and advance our knowledge base and practice of Metamaterials. Advanced synthetic composite materials with structures that exhibit properties not usually found in natural materials, such as Plasmonic negative refractive index materials, can boast a large degree of multifunctionality with significant applications in the life sciences. Topics covered in this international forum include, but are not limited to, notable advances in theory, physics, chemistry and materials science of these synthetic materials, with particular emphasis on their applications in the Lifescience disciplines such as Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Environmental sensing and Medicine, to name but a few. In addition to original articles, Advanced Metamaterials also publishes reviews, rapid communications and letters to the editors discussing the application of metamaterials, including but not limited to: ● Life science applications to provide greater understanding of biological and biochemical systems, disease detection, or regenerative medicine. ● Medical applications, such as sensing and stents, bio-interfaces, nanosensors and drug development. ● Engineering/design focus, such as materials science, metasurfaces, multifunctional interfaces, plasmonic metamaterials, optics, acoustics, chirality and light manipulation. The journal also welcomes articles related to the limitations and drawback of Metamaterials, including possible solutions. These may include but are not limited to: ● Addressing material limited operation bandwidth ● High losses ● Complex and expensive fabrication processes ● Feasibility of large device sizes ● Maintaining properties over a wide range of frequencies All manuscripts are subject to critical peer review. It should be noted that the final decision relating to manuscript suitability within Advanced Metamaterials rests solely with the editors. While the journal welcomes the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in large data set analysis and in the design and understanding of complex materials, the journal does not accept articles written solely by AI or the use of AI to design materials, without the materials being reduced to practice. Advanced Metamaterials invites symposia papers to be collectively published together, through the initial consult and agreement with the editor-in-chief.
