| 520 | _aJournal of Health, Population and Nutrition publishes research on human population health and nutrition. We consider only human-related studies and do not publish work limited to animal, plant or in vitro models. As a global public health journal, we prioritise studies with clear international relevance. We will only rarely consider single-centre or single-community studies, and only when the insights are generalisable beyond the local setting. Focus areas: We welcome rigorous, policy-relevant research across (but not limited to) the following areas: Global health and health systems Health economics Infectious diseases Maternal, newborn and child health Non-communicable diseases Nutrition, including stunting and malnutrition Reproductive health and family planning Environment-related health — only where the primary outcomes are human health or nutrition at the population level, for example: · Health effects of extreme heat and other climate-related exposures · Natural disasters and population health impacts · Sustainability, nutrition and health, including the health impact of dietary shifts (e.g., reduced meat consumption) and the population-level implications of ultra-processed foods (local vs. imported) · Health effects of water, air and agriculture-related pollution when directly linked to human outcomes We generally do not consider: Studies centred on agriculture, food safety, microbiology, toxicology or chemical exposure without direct measurement of human health or nutrition outcomes at the population level Laboratory, animal, plant or in vitro studies Purely local or single-centre studies that lack generalisable insights Secondary data analyses that are primarily descriptive, duplicative, or add little beyond what is already known. | ||
