520 _aThe International Journal of STEM Education is a multidisciplinary journal focused on the study of teaching and learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Established as a forward-looking publication, it aims to advance research and foster innovation in the dynamic and evolving landscape of STEM education worldwide. Through rigorous peer review, the journal is committed to promoting high-quality scholarship and supporting the development of STEM education as a distinct academic field. The International Journal of STEM Education provides a unique platform for sharing research across a wide range of topics, including the design and implementation of technology-rich learning environments, the role of generative artificial intelligence and its integration in STEM education and research, innovative pedagogies, curricula and assessments in STEM education that support successful learning from Pre K through postsecondary levels including teacher education. The journal also welcomes studies that address specific challenges in improving student achievement, approaches for motivating and engaging students, and lessons learned from curriculum and instructional changes. We especially encourage translational research that bridges STEM education research with policy and practice to drive meaningful and sustainable improvements. The journal values unique contributions of different perspectives that view STEM education either as traditionally defined, subject-based education in S.T.E.M. separately, or as an educational undertaking in inter-connected STEM fields. It features original research and research reviews in STEM education. Interdisciplinary research contributions are preferred. There are no methodological restrictions, but this journal seeks to foster multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research and development through empirically grounded contributions that integrate subject content expertise and educational endeavors. Submissions are encouraged from scholars across STEM disciplines (e.g., science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) as well as the social sciences (e.g., education, psychology, and sociology) to promote scholarly exchange and dialogue on emerging issues and frontier research in STEM education. The journal also features commentaries that explore significant topics/issues of interest in STEM education, offering critical insights into key developments in the field.
