This peer-reviewed journal, established in 1973, uses the lenses of industrial and business economics to investigate issues relevant to scholars, managers and policy makers. The key areas of interest of the Journal of Industrial and Business Economics (JIBE) are: industrial organization and policy; international business, multinationals and global value chains (GVCs); international trade, economic geography and industrial development; innovation; entrepreneurship and small business; firm organization and strategy. Within these key areas, JIBE pays special attention to topics relating to grand challenges in a transforming world, examined through the lens of industrial and business economics. A non-exhaustive list of current issues includes: emergent technologies, artificial intelligence and industry dynamics; the digital transformation of organizations, industries and global value chains; environmental change, green transition and sustainable industrial development; geopolitical disruption, deglobalization and the reconfiguration of GVCs; open strategic autonomy, industrial policy and EU competitiveness; industry evolution and competitive dynamics in a platform economy, competition, regulation and data governance; university-industry collaboration and technology transfer; entrepreneurial dynamics and finance, start-up performance drivers, intellectual property strategy and open innovation. JIBE welcomes papers that combine advancements in the theoretical understanding of phenomena with rigorous, systematic and original evidence-based empirical analysis, using quantitative or qualitative approaches as well as experimental and mixed methods. The journal's primary focus is on the behaviour and performance of firms, industries and markets. While cross-country and regional analyses are welcome where they shed light on industrial and business economics questions, purely macroeconomic studies are outside the journal's scope. The geographic scope may vary from subnational regions to nations and supra-national contexts, with a particular consideration of the EU and other integration processes. The journal also publishes special issues and symposia aimed at opening debate among scholars on specific topics, and perspective papers on emerging issues in industrial and business economics. The journal is owned by the Associazione Amici di Economia e Politica Industriale. .
