Subject(s): Additional physical formats: Printed version: : No titleOnline resources: Summary: Aerobiologia, the International Journal of Aerobiology, is an interdisciplinary platform for the publication of aerobiological studies that explore interactions between the atmosphere and other parts of the earth system (i.e., the biosphere, cryosphere, hydrosphere, and geosphere/pedosphere), as well as the influence of anthropogenic activities on these components. Aerobiology is the study of organisms and particles of biological origin passively transported in the air (bioaerosols), and concerns their sources, release, dispersal, deposition, impact on living organisms and materials, as well as the effects of environmental conditions on each of these processes. Aerobiological research includes airborne algae, bacteria, fungi (spores and hyphal fragments), plants (such as pollen, fern and bryophyte spores, plant fragments, and debris), protozoa, and viruses in both indoor and outdoor environments. Aerobiologia aims to publish impactful high-quality studies on topics related to bioaerosols and their dispersal, including, but not limited to: aerobacteriology, aeromycology, aeropalynology, aerovirology, agriculture and horticulture, atmospheric transport mechanisms, biodeterioration, biogeochemical cycles, biological warfare/ bioterrorism, biological weathering, biological pollution, cloud processes, ecological and evolutionary processes (e.g., gene flow, colonisation, and succession), epidemiology, environmental health, environmental policy, global environmental change (including climate change and its impacts), indoor biological air quality, microbiology, passive dispersal of arthropods, plant pathology, One Health and Planetary Health concepts, and urban planning and land use change. Aerobiologia publishes original research papers, review articles and short communications. The journal encourages novel studies that significantly advance aerobiological knowledge. Papers concerned with new methods, long term datasets, and extending geographical coverage to parts of the world not previously studied are particularly welcome. We are an inclusive journal and short communications are the preferred format for localised descriptive studies, such as pollen and fungal spore calendars with short datasets. .
