Subject(s): Additional physical formats: Printed version: : No titleOnline resources: Summary: Acoustics Australia, the journal of the Australian Acoustical Society, has been publishing high-quality research and technical papers across all areas of acoustics since 1972. The journal serves both researchers and practitioners and aims to disseminate work that is relevant to contemporary acoustics and of interest to members of the Society. Papers should present a clear and original contribution to acoustics, offering a meaningful advance beyond existing methods. Submissions that integrate theoretical, numerical and experimental work are particularly encouraged. The journal is open to papers covering fundamental and applied research on a broad range of topics. These include, but are not limited to: • Noise and Vibration Monitoring and Control • Architectural and Building Acoustics • Underwater Vibration and Acoustics • Physical Acoustics, Ultrasonic and Metamaterials • Environmental Acoustics, Bioacoustics and Ecoacoustics • Hearing and Musical Acoustics To improve the likelihood of acceptance, authors are encouraged to ensure that their manuscripts: • fall within the scope of the Journal or relevant Special Issue, • present novel research that advances the field, • appropriately review and cite foundational and recent literature, • clearly articulate the research gap and define the research questions, • adhere to the journal’s submission and formatting guidelines and • are written in clear, concise and include high-resolution figures and diagrams, and • comply with high ethical and research integrity standards. Please note that- A. Studies focused primarily on signal processing or algorithm development without substantive acoustical insight or application will not be considered. B. Applications of AI or machine learning that do not provide demonstrable improvements, novelty or justification will not be considered. C. Papers reporting solely laboratory-based experiments must demonstrate clear methodological innovation or provide new insights that substantially advance acoustical understanding. D. Papers reporting solely numerical studies must demonstrate clear methodological innovation and be rigorously verified against established numerical or analytical solutions or validated through comparison with experimental data. E. Papers that introduce an experimental or computational method applied to a specific case study, demonstrating improvement over existing approaches, should be submitted as Methodology articles. F. Review papers must provide a critical, integrated synthesis of existing literature, going beyond a descriptive summary of prior work. High-quality reviews identify emerging trends, highlight knowledge gaps and propose novel conceptual frameworks. To ensure depth and authority, authors should have a proven track record in the subject area, reflecting their expertise in the paper. Submissions must be carefully structured and supported by a comprehensive, up-to-date bibliography that demonstrates clear significance to the discipline.
