The journal aims to be a resource for researchers, policy makers and the general public for recent advances in hazards research, and its uses in research development and society. As a fully open access journal, we ensure that our research is highly discoverable and instantly available globally to everyone. The journal particularly welcomes work that aims to address the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially Climate Action, and Sustainable Cities and Communities. Topics Topics welcomed at Discover Hazards include but are not limited to the following: Biohazards and public health hazards: Includes infectious agents or biological materials such as animal, medical, agricultural wastes, and hazards from biological vectors (eg pathogens, toxins, mosquitoes carrying disease agents) Geological and geophysical hazards: Includes Earth-related hazards such as earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides/rockslides, surface collapse, debris flows, mudflows/lahars, avalanches, etc Hazard mitigation: Includes risk assessment and management, prevention, risk reduction, preparedness and resilience, monitoring, prediction/forecasting/projection and modelling of all hazard types Hydrometeorological hazards: Includes oceanographic, hydrologic and atmospheric hazards such as cyclones/hurricanes, storms surges, floods, wildfires, heatwaves, droughts, cold spells/snow, coastal erosion, etc Technological hazards: Includes industrial, directly human-induced hazards such as industrial pollution, nuclear waste disposal, nuclear radiation, chemical/toxic wastes, chemical spills, oil spills, urban fires, dam failure, infrastructure/building failure, etc Content types Discover Hazards welcomes a variety of article types – please see our submission guidelines for details.
