| Summary, etc. | Entre 1864 et 1880, Émile Zola a écrit pour divers journaux français, et même pour une revue russe. Cette partie journalistique de son œuvre comprend entre autres quatre-vingt récits brefs, méconnus jusqu'ici par la critique littéraire. La présente étude est entièrement consacrée à ce Zola inconnu. L'objectif est de reconstruire la manière dont le narrateur des récits brefs communique avec le lecteur de l'époque. Cette communication semble se faire sur le mode de la complicité, mais se révèle être basée sur le leurre. Ce livre analyse les techniques persuasives que le narrateur met en œuvre pour convaincre le public de son point de vue, ainsi que le rôle des titres, amorces et clôtures dans cette manipulation. Le lecteur bourgeois est conduit implacablement à reconnaître la pertinence de l'idéologie du narrateur. Les récits brefs de Zola s'avèrent ainsi beaucoup plus proches des Rougon-Macquart qu'on ne l'avait cru jusqu'ici. |
