| Summary, etc. | Die vorliegende Edition des italienisch-sprachigen Briefwechsels zwischen dem päpstlichen Staatssekretariat in Rom und dem Nuntius in Köln umfasst die letzten Jahre der diplomatischen Mission des Bologneser Prälaten Antonio Albergati, der seit 1610 am Rhein amtierte. Gleichzeitig wird mit diesem Band die traditionsreiche Reihe der Kölner Nuntiaturberichte abgeschlossen. Im wöchentlichen Briefwechsel zwischen Köln und Rom wird neben den innerkirchlichen Amtsgeschäften des Nuntius in breitem Umfang die Anfangsphase des Dreißigjährigen Krieges dokumentiert. Herausragende Ereignisse sind die Neugründung der katholischen Liga unter maßgeblicher Beteiligung der päpstlichen Diplomatie, die Kaiserwahl Ferdinands II., die gleichzeitige Wahl des Pfälzer Kurfürsten Friedrichs V. zum König von Böhmen, die Schlacht am Weißen Berg bei Prag und die Besetzung der Pfalz durch spanischen Truppen unter Spinola. Die Korrespondenz ist wie die bisherigen Bände der Editionsreihe durch eine Einleitung, deutschsprachige Regesten und durch umfangreiche Register erschlossen. |
