| Summary, etc. | Materialität von Kultur und Gesellschaft – Eine interdisziplinäre Bestandsaufnahme. Lange schenkten die Kultur- und Sozialwissenschaften dem Materiellen kaum Beachtung. Sprache und Kultur, Gesellschaft und Sozialität galten als immaterielle Sphären des Geistigen. Das Materielle war allenfalls nachgeordneter Träger und Übermittler immateriellen Sinns. Diese strikte Trennung von materieller und immaterieller Welt wird zunehmend in Frage gestellt. Die Sozial- und Kulturwissenschaften wenden sich vermehrt der materiellen Seite des Kulturellen zu und verstehen das Materielle als eng mit Gesellschaft und Kultur verwoben. Der Band versammelt Autor/innen, die an einer solchen Rehabilitierung des Materiellen arbeiten. Neben konzeptionellen Beiträgen finden sich Fallstudien zu kulturellen Artefakten, der Materialität der Zeichen und Texte sowie zur Stofflichkeit von Licht, Tönen und Klängen. |
