| Summary, etc. | Der Sport und seine Helden sind und waren eine Konstruktion der Tagespresse. Diese provokante These wird für die Weimarer Republik untersucht und anhand von sechs sportbiographischen Fallbeispielen - aus der Tageszeitungsberichterstattung herausgelesen - facettenreich überprüft. Mit Hilfe des Zugangs von Mentalitäts- und Kulturgeschichte wird deutlich, dass die Tageszeitung seismographisch die »öffentliche« Sportentwicklung in einen zeitkritischen Kontext einbettet. Sport wird zu einer Art von Katalysator für gesellschaftliche Prozesse, der nur funktionieren konnte, da die Tages-presse als Medium den Transport der (individuellen) Leistung in die kollektive Wahrnehmung ermöglicht hat. |
