| Summary, etc. | In Deutschland wurde Susan Taubes erst durch die späte Übersetzung ihres 1969 erschienenen Romans Divorcing und als Frau des Religionsphilosophen Jacob Taubes bekannt. Die Edition ihres Nachlasses ermöglicht die Entdeckung einer unabhängigen Denkerin, deren Werk Arbeiten zu Literatur, Theater, Religionsphilosophie und Kulturwissenschaft sowie eine Fülle an literarischen Schriften umfasst. Dieser dritte Band der Edition enthält elf Prosaschriften aus Taubes‘ Nachlass. Mit Ausnahme zweier Erzählungen, die zu ihren Lebzeiten in den USA erschienen, werden diese Texte erstmals veröffentlicht und ins Deutsche übersetzt. Wegweisend für Susan Taubes Profilbildung als Schriftstellerin wurden die in diesem Band versammelten zehn Erzählungen und das romanähnliche Prosastück, entstanden zwischen 1957 und 1969. Sie sind geprägt durch ein virtuoses Spiel mit Perspektiven und Erzählweisen in Verbindung mit ganz unterschiedlichen Schauplätzen und Sujets. Mit der Literatur schrieb Taubes ihre philosophischen Gedanken und Reflexionen fort. Ob im Ton der Groteske, des Absurden, des Traums oder Hellwachseins, des schwarzen Humors oder des grausamen Märchens: Dem Leser begegnen Inszenierungen von Fremdheit und Ortlosigkeit, des Ineinandergleitens von Leben und Tod, der Dialektik von Vernunft und Leidenschaft – und der Unmöglichkeit, die Geschichte eines Lebens als sichere und gradlinige Entwicklung zu erinnern und zu erzählen. |
