| Summary, etc. | Die Erinnerung an den Ersten Weltkrieg wird bis heute maßgeblich durch die langwierigen Stellungskämpfe und Materialschlachten in Frankreich und Belgien bestimmt. Dabei wird jedoch übersehen, dass der Erste Weltkrieg an der Ostfront, auf dem Balkan, im Nahen und Mittleren Osten, in Afrika sowie in seiner Anfangs- und Endphase selbst an der Westfront zum Teil höchst dynamische Züge mit manöverreichen Operationen aufweist. Jenseits der Materialschlachten untersucht das vorliegende Buch daher wo, wie und bis zu welchem Grade der Erste Weltkrieg als Bewegungskrieg geführt werden konnte. Im Zentrum des Erkenntnisinteresses stehen dabei vier Fragen: Unter welchen Bedingungen war im Ersten Weltkrieg eine bewegliche Kriegführung möglich? Welche Wege wurden beschritten, um das Dilemma des Stellungskrieges zu überwinden? Wie weit reichten deren technische und logistische Möglichkeiten und wo lagen deren Grenzen? Schließlich stellt sich die Frage, inwiefern bewegliche Operationsführung den Ersten Weltkrieg entscheiden konnte. |
