| Summary, etc. | Welche Aufbrüche erlebte die katholische Soziallehre in der Weimarer Republik? Welche Rolle spielte sie in den Formierungsprozessen des Wohlfahrtsstaates? Die erste umfassende Aufarbeitung des wirtschafts- und sozialpolitischen Frühwerks des Jesuiten Oswald von Nell-Breuning gibt Antworten auf diese Fragen. Nell-Breuning (1890–1991), der »Nestor der katholischen Soziallehre«, gehört zu den prägenden Intellektuellen der Bundesrepublik. Wenig bekannt ist dagegen, dass er bereits in den 1920er Jahren eine führende Rolle in den Auseinandersetzungen um das deutsche Wirtschafts- und Sozialmodell einnahm und zusammen mit seinen solidaristischen Mitstreitern die katholische Soziallehre modernisierte. Dabei entfaltete er zentrale politische Perspektiven, die insbesondere nach 1945 erhebliche Bedeutung erlangten. |
