| Summary, etc. | Wilhelm von Humboldt (1767–1835), Philosoph, Sprachforscher und Bildungspolitiker – seine wahre Bedeutung droht in der Rede vom „Mythos Humboldt“ verloren zu gehen. Doch inwiefern prägt seine historische Leistung für die Idee der Universität allgemein und die Gründung der Universität Berlin im Speziellen das Verständnis für universitäre Bildung bis heute? Und welchen Einfluss haben seine Ideen auf die heutige Bildungspolitik? Wilhelm von Humboldt existiert aktuell in sehr kontrastreichen Gestalten: als Bildungspolitiker, der um 1800 die Grundzüge des deutschen Bildungssystems und die „Idee“ der modernen Universität begründet hat, als Bildungstheoretiker, dem wir ein Bild des selbstverantwortlichen Individuums verdanken, das aktiv die Herausforderungen der Welt bewältigt, aber auch als „Mythos Humboldt“, mit dem nur Wunschbilder wachgehalten werden, die noch nie Realität hatten und heute nur als Gegenbilder zur schlechten Wirklichkeit leben. Diese widersprüchlichen Zuschreibungen werden in drei Schritten diskutiert und zu einem historisch beglaubigten und heute aktuellen Humboldt-Bild neu zusammengefügt: für die deutsche und internationale Debatte über die Idee der Universität bis heute, für die Rolle Humboldts in der Gründung der Universität zu Berlin und ihrer Realität bis zur Gegenwart, und für die Möglichkeiten von „Bildung durch Wissenschaft“. Die Rede vom „Mythos Humboldt“ wird dabei destruiert und die historische Leistung Humboldts sowie die offene Frage nach Gestalt und Praxis der Universität und ihrer „Idee“ neu beantwortet. |
