| Summary, etc. | Generalfeldmarschall C. Freiherr volume d. Goltz (1843-1916) zählt zu den schillerndsten Gestalten der deutschen Militärgeschichte. Seine militärtheoretischen Bestseller verschafften ihm den Ruf eines Vordenkers der modernen Kriegführung. Dieses Renommee mehrte sein Einsatz als Reorganisator des türkischen Heeres (1883-1895). Goltz‘ Einfluss auf das türkische Offizierskorps trug wesentlich zur deutsch-osmanischen Allianz im 1. Weltkrieg bei. Warum aber trieb ein Offizier, der das Grauen eines zukünftigen Krieges bereits 1882 erkannt hatte, unentwegt zum bewaffneten Konflikt? Wie suchte er diesen Krieg mit den Mitteln eines bürgerlichen Militarismus vorzubereiten? Diese Fragen beantwortet das minutiös recherchierte Buch. |
