| Summary, etc. | De varkenshouderij is een sector die sterk afhankelijk is van export. Dit betekent dat behalve de binnenlandse ook de buitenlandse afnemers eisen stellen aan de kwaliteit van dieren en eindproducten. De gezondheidszorg is daardoor één van de belangrijkste aandachtspunten van de Nederlandse varkenshouderij geworden waarbij preventie hoog in het vaandel staat. Dit boek biedt een overzicht van de ontwikkelingen op preventief, hygi‘nisch en zootechnisch gebied van de varkensgezondheidszorg. Het gaat in op de rol van de diergezondheid als marketing component en plaatst het vervolgens in een economisch perspectief. Er is ruim aandacht voor selectiemogelijkheden op verhoogde ziekteweerstand, de relatie tussen voeding en gezondheid en die tussen omgeving en gezondheid. Tenslotte wordt ingegaan op risicoanalyse en vrijwaring van infectieziekten op varkensbedrijven. Kortom, het geeft zowel op bedrijfs- als op sectorniveau de invloed aan van verschillende factoren en maatregelen op de gezondheidssituatie van de varkensstapel. |
