| Summary, etc. | Der von Lars Nowak herausgegebene Band untersucht räumliche Aspekte von Mediennutzung, die bei der Vorbereitung und Führung, aber auch Hegung und Abwendung von Kriegen eine Rolle spielen. Dabei wird im Ausgang von der Beobachtung, dass der Raum nicht nur für Kriege, sondern auch für Kriegsmedien Gegenstand und Bedingung zugleich ist, ein besonderer Akzent auf den Umstand gelegt, dass Medien nicht weniger als Waffen- und Transporttechnologien zur sozialen Konstruktion militärischer Räume beitragen. So zeigen die im Band versammelten Fallstudien, die historisch von der antiken Kriegführung bis zum aktuellen Network Centric Warfare reichen, welche Rolle die mediale Erzeugung, Speicherung, Übertragung und Verarbeitung von Informationen beispielsweise bei der Lenkung von Waffen, der Koordination getrennter Truppenteile, der Verortung des Gegners oder der militärischen Erschließung des Meeres- und des Luftraumes spielt. |
