| Summary, etc. | Sind wir tatsächlich nicht mehr als Handlanger unseres Gehirns, das uns in eine Blase von Illusionen einhüllt? Die heutige Wissenschaft scheint mit Ja zu antworten. Dabei merkt sie nicht, dass sie sich selbst in den Rücken fällt: Falls alles illusionsdurchsetzt ist, macht die Hirnforschung keine Ausnahme – auch sie würde nur Illusionen produzieren. Sollte es kein autonomes Leben geben, müssten Gesellschaft und Staat dem Primat des Gehirns Rechnung tragen. Demnach hätten wir unsere Institutionen, ob Erziehung, Politik, Recht, Überwachung oder Strafvollzug, an unsere Unfreiheit anzupassen. Droht uns eine Diktatur des Gehirns? Strassers Gegenentwurf plädiert für einen »Primat des Geistes«. Unser Bewusstsein lässt sich nicht auf Physik und Chemie reduzieren; ebenso wenig unser personales Wesen: Ichbegabung, Willensfreiheit, Moralität. Wenn uns die Forschung und damit unser Gehirn selbst suggeriert, die Prozesse, die in seinem Inneren ablaufen, seien schon alles, dann äußert sich darin die Grundgefahr unserer Zeit: die Vertreibung des Geistes aus der Welt. Noch ist die Frage offen: Verblödet am Ende alles, indem es so klug scheint wie nie zuvor? |
