| Summary, etc. | An der hessischen Heilerziehungsanstalt Kalmenhof lassen sich zahlreiche Formen der NS-"Euthanasie"-Verbrechen studieren. Die Einrichtung war nicht nur als „Zwischenanstalt" für die Tötungsanstalt Hadamar in die „Aktion T4" eingebunden. Ende 1941 wurde zudem eine „Kinderfachabteilung" eingerichtet, in der Kinder und Jugendliche ermordet wurden. Darüber hinaus wurden während der gesamten Kriegszeit Kinder, Jugendliche und Erwachsene mit Medikamenten und durch gezielte Mangelernährung getötet. Tatort war fast immer das anstaltseigene Krankenhaus. Ab den 1970er Jahren wurde das Gebäude als kinder- und jugendpsychiatrische Einrichtung genutzt, bis es schließlich leer stand. Als es 2016 verkauft werden sollte, wurden Proteste laut. Im Zuge neuer Forschungen steht nun nicht nur die NS-Geschichte zur Diskussion, sondern auch die Haltung zur Tat und zu den Tatbeteiligten in der Nachkriegszeit und der Umgang mit den Gräbern der über 700 Ermordeten des Kalmenhofs. |
