| Summary, etc. | Die Verständigung über gemeinsame Zeit, das Festlegen und Teilen zeitlicher Bezugssysteme, gehört zu den elementaren Zielen der meisten Kulturen. Dabei spielen kulturelle Praktiken und Techniken der Synchronisationeine entscheidende Rolle. Zeit ist ja stets älter als die Begriffe, die wir uns von ihr machen: Gemeinsame Zeit wird durch konkrete Kulturtechniken erzeugt, beispielsweise durch Kalendersysteme seit den frühen Hochkulturen, Zeitzonen im 19. Jahrhundert oder aktuelle GPS-Technologien. Synchronisation wird produziert, aber auch unwillkürlich erfahren, was exemplarisch am Schwarmverhalten mancher Tierarten, am Automatismus von Befehlsfolgen oder an der filmischen Wahrnehmung studiert werden kann.Der Band gliedert sich in drei Teile zur sozialen, technischen und medialen Synchronisation. Die Beiträge zur sozialen Synchronisation stellen im ersten Teil die Frage nach den kulturgenerierenden Praktiken und Operationen aus historisch-genealogischer Perspektive, unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Beziehungen zwischen Individuen und Kollektiven. Die Untersuchungen im zweiten Teil thematisieren materiale und apparative Aspekte, etwa am Beispiel von Uhren oder Computern. Im dritten Teil wird Synchronisation als zentrale Kulturtechnik verstanden, die Medien und symbolische Ordnungen zugleich erzeugt wie voraussetzt. |
