| Summary, etc. | Unbestritten waren die Jahre zwischen 1920 und 1960 in Deutschland von tiefen politischen Umbrüchen gekennzeichnet. Doch welcher Einfluss ging von diesen Veränderungen auf die Gesellschaft aus? Bildete der politische Wandel kurzfristig auch den Ausgangspunkt für sozialen Wandel? Mehr als zwanzig deutsche und ausländische Historiker geben Antworten. Sie fallen unterschiedlich aus – abhängig davon, welchen gesellschaft-lichen Ausschnitt sie ins Auge fassen. Während zum Beispiel das Schick-sal der jüdischen Bürger oder der Psychiatriepatienten in existentieller Weise vom Wechsel des politischen Regimes abhing, änderte sich in anderen Bereichen von Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft oft erstaunlich wenig. Die eigentliche Antwort auf die Frage nach dem Einfluss von Politik auf die Gesellschaft erlaubt jedoch erst der Blick über die nationalen Grenzen hinweg. Deshalb ist dieser Band konsequenter als andere Vorhaben auf den Vergleich mit den Gesellschaften der Nachbarländer – der Niederlande, Österreichs und der Schweiz – ausgerichtet. |
